To make matters worse, a violent thunderstorm shortly before the end of the game caused some flooding in the venerable Old Trafford Stadium. A lot of water could be seen coming from one corner of the field. Videos on social media showed a flood pouring under the seats.

The downpour even reached Arsenal’s dressing room, with footage showing severe leaks from the roof.

Arsenal takes the lead over Man City
The guests from London probably didn’t care about the water in the cabin. With the win, the Gunners took over the lead from Machester City again and can therefore continue to hope for the title one match day before the end of the season. However, Pep Guardiola’s team still has a game to catch up and could pass Arsenal again with a win. The decision about the title will be made on the last match day.

Old Trafford is to be demolished or modernized
This does not stop the discussions about the 114-year-old stadium. United’s minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe would like to tear down Old Trafford and build a “Wembley of the North” for up to £2 billion.
However, if a new building is not possible, he would also consider renovating the existing stadium. Ratcliffe promised an initial £237m in emergency aid to modernize Old Trafford and the also aging Carrington training center as part of his £1.3bn investment in the club.
