Passenger Flow Surges at Daxing Airport as Summer Arrives

With the arrival of summer, Daxing Airport is experiencing a sharp increase in passenger flow. According to the latest report from the airport, the average daily passenger volume has reached 124,000, with an average occupancy rate of over 75%. The influx of passengers during the summer season consists mainly of students, tourists, and people visiting relatives. Most popular destinations are concentrated in summer resort areas.

Inbound and outbound passenger numbers at Daxing Airport have been steadily rising in recent months. According to statistics from the border inspection station, the total number of inbound and outbound passengers exceeded 190,000 in June, marking a 40% increase compared to the previous month. Moreover, the number of passengers checked and released in a single day exceeded 8,000. In response to this growing demand, Daxing Airport has announced plans to add and resume 9 international and regional routes in July, including popular destinations like Nagoya, Japan; Jeju, South Korea; Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia; Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei; and Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, passengers taking China Southern Airlines’ international through flights to London, Amsterdam, and Tashkent can now complete all transit services without leaving the quarantine area upon landing at Daxing Airport.

During the summer travel season, Daxing Airport is expected to handle 55,400 passenger flights and more than 7.9 million inbound and outbound passengers, reaching a new peak in terms of both flights and passengers. To ensure smooth operations, the airport has implemented a summer transportation guarantee plan. This includes the opening of fast lanes and the addition of special lanes at the airport border checkpoint to facilitate safe, fast, and efficient customs clearance. Daxing Airport has also introduced exclusive services for different passenger groups. For example, elderly passengers who speak dialects can receive the special service of “accompanied by hometown accent,” while young travelers can enjoy cute stickers. Passengers can make reservations for these exclusive services through the “Daxing Airport” APP, applets, or by dialing the 96158 airport service hotline.

Improvements in transportation between the airport and the city have also been made. Daxing Airport has increased the number of buses that operate between the airport and the city and has ensured sufficient availability of taxis. In order to accommodate the large influx of passengers during the night, airport buses will leave as soon as they are full and make additional trips if necessary. Temporary parking areas have also been designated within the parking building to meet the long-term parking needs of passengers. Additionally, the check-in hours at the Gu’an and Zhuozhou urban terminals have been adjusted starting from July 5, now open from 6:00 to 18:00, in order to facilitate early departures for passengers.
