Dennis Vareide: Single and bankrupt:

– It was obviously quite rough and intense. All that happened last autumn, but it’s only now that I made it public, says the profiled YouTuber about the two major life changes that took place in a short time.

Vareide explains that the bankruptcy was due to a tax bill that was far too large.

– It wasn’t that easy to pay off, so the Norwegian Tax Agency bankrupted me. I have continued to work with them and am working hard to finish that bill.

Tough with the media focus

The 33-year-old says that he was stressed at the start, but that it has worked out.

– I live a completely normal life. Apart from the formalities, not much has happened.

Dennis Vareide reveals: – Personal bankruptcy

The hardest part was dealing with the news headlines about the bankruptcy, says the YouTuber.

– It was actually the heaviest. Because it’s obviously a bit embarrassing that you’ve been an ass on your own accounting.

He points out that there is no stress as long as you are willing to cooperate.

– You are afraid they will take everything you own and throw you on the street. But luckily we live in Norway.

– I stand by it. Then it all works out in the end, says the 33-year-old.

Interruption during recording

At the end of February, Vareide shared on Instagram’s story function that he and his girlfriend Gro were no longer together.

“Gro and I broke up a while ago and are no longer lovers,” he wrote at the time.

It was in 2021 that he revealed that the two had become lovers. Together they have a daughter Ingvild, whom they announced in August 2023.

Today, Vareide says that the breakup happened during the recording of the program “16 weeks of hell”, and that this affected him along the way.

– I have some episodes where I laugh, and it’s not just because of the training, but because I’m “mentally gone”.

– Nice to clear your head

He is open about the fact that on several occasions it was not tempting to take part in the recording. The 33-year-old therefore praises a “very cooperative production” which enabled him to complete the recordings.

– That was hard. I knew I also had the high tax bill, but I had to stand by it, says the YouTuber.

As long as you take care of yourself and take those breaks, you’ll be fine, he points out.

– It’s nice to clear your head a bit sometimes. I’ve been working a lot this fall, and some of those recordings have been absolutely fantastic. Going to the gym to clear my head helped a lot – and still does, he says.
