TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Universal Pictures and Illumination released the trailer Despicable Me 4 on Monday, January 29, 2024. The film will continue the popular animated franchise, following the turned-good supervillain Gru (Steve Carrell) who now lives with his family.
The trailer will open with funny behavior Minions, Gru’s henchman. Gru’s wife from Despicable Me 2Lucy (Kristen Wiig), and their three adopted daughters, namely Margo, Edith, and Agnes live together happily.
“Hello everyone! Wait a minute. Three daughters, one wife, something is missing,” said Gru. Lucy then turned around and showed the baby boy in her arms behind her. “Oh, that’s my boy,” Gru said excitedly.

However, unlike his three older sisters, the baby who is called Gru Junior actually shows a stern facial expression when facing his father. When he hears his mother’s voice, Gru Junior’s face immediately changes to that of a happy baby.
“Of course he loves you. He just doesn’t show it on his face or with his body language,” Lucy said trying to comfort Gru.

The Gru family’s happiness is suddenly tarnished by the presence of Maxime Le Mal, a new villain in Despicable Me 4. Played by comedy legend Will Ferrell, Maxime Le Mal (also named Max Superball in the trailer) is a criminal who escapes from prison in a giant bronze machine and goes on the hunt for Gru and his family.
The trailer also shows Maxime’s girlfriend Valentina, voiced by Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, as she is seen igniting an engine rocket to send him flying into the air.
In this new story, Gru is forced to move his family from their home to a safe house with Maxime seen in the trailer escaping from prison and shouting, “I’ve come for revenge, Gru!”
Despicable Me 4 is scheduled to be shown in United States cinemas on July 3 2024. There is no information regarding the broadcast date in Indonesia.
