Dominic Thiem misses the main round of the ATP 1000 tournament in Madrid!
The former world number three had to admit defeat to the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (ATP 93) in the second qualifying round with 1:6, 3:6.
The game starts unfavorably for the Lichtenwörther native, he has to give up his first service game straight away and is already 0:3 behind at the start. The 30-year-old also has to make his debut on his second service, fends off a breakball and reduces the score to 1:3.
Kokkinakis is still confident with his own serve, but when the score is 1:4, Thiem has to give up his own again and has his back to the wall. His opponent doesn’t let anything go wrong and confidently takes the first set.
