The same story again in Monaco! Saša Obradović together with the club’s management suspended him Elija Okoba because of indiscipline and because of a conflict with one of his teammates, and only two weeks later the club decided that it was time for the French defender to return to the team!
Now the team from the principality announced that Okobo returned to training with the team at the beginning of Sunday and that all the problems he had were solved within the team. This means that Okobo will be in the squad for the match with Real in Monte Carlo.
“Monaco are pleased to announce that Eli Okobo returned to the team at the beginning of Sunday after internally resolving all the issues that led to his suspension. The club management has taken the decision to fully reinstate him to the team. Eli is ready to give his best as would help our team reach their goals in the second half of the season which promises to be intense and exciting. The French international is in the squad for the match against Real Madrid“, according to the announcement of Monaco.
To remind you, we saw something similar in previous seasons with the problematic Mike James. Obradović had his conflicts with him, he even punished him, but one of the best strikers in the Euroleague was always returned to the team.
As for Okob, after starting his career in Pau Ortez, he played in the NBA for Phoenix, and after two unsuccessful seasons there, he returned to Europe and played brilliantly for Asvel in the 2021/22 season. He has been in Monaco since last season, and won silver with France at Eurobasket 2022.
