Brazil teenager Endrick scored his record goal at Wembley Stadium in London. “My family is here, my girlfriend, my agents. I don’t cry a lot, I hold back, but this is something unique and I’m very happy,” he said about his 1-0 winning goal in the classic against England.
The 17-year-old had set an age record. Thanks to the goal in the 80th minute, Endrick became the youngest player to score an international goal at Wembley at 17 years and 246 days, according to statistics service Opta. It was also the talent’s first goal for Brazil in the senior national team.
Endrick, who will move to Real Madrid from Brazilian club Palmeiras at the end of the season, scored nine minutes after coming on as a substitute. Madrid secured the contract with Endrick in December 2022, when he was only 16 years old.
Endrick could have increased the score in the final phase, but missed the second goal for the record world champion, who has recently been weak in terms of sport. “It all took a bit of a toll on me – I’m not going to lie about the chance I had at the end,” said Endrick. “I just thought about scoring goals. I couldn’t think about the game any longer.”
