After an unspecified incident, the participation of the Dutchman Joost Klein in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest is open. The EBU’s investigation into the case is still ongoing.
According to media reports, there was a physical attack after the semi-final on Thursday evening. What exactly this was about was not initially made known. The investigation into the incident involving the Dutch artist at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is still ongoing, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said in a statement.
Joost Klein did not appear at the second dress rehearsal
Discussions are also taking place between the EBU and the Dutch participating broadcaster AVROTROS, the EBU added. While the investigation continues, the EBU has decided that, as with the first, Joost Klein will not appear at the second dress rehearsal of the competition on Friday evening.
Juries evaluate the Dutch entry from the second semi
Joost Klein appeared at the first rehearsal of the final and was present at the flag parade, but he did not rehearse his song “Europapa”.
Since the juries in the 37 participating countries vote in this dress rehearsal, the performance from the second semi-final will be used to assess his performance. The Dutchman is one of the ESC’s extended circle of favorites.
