FC Barcelona wins thanks to Lewandowski hat trick

Barcelona – Thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s three goals, FC Barcelona won 4:2 (1:2) in the Spanish football championship against FC Valencia.

In the final game of the 33rd matchday of the Primera División, the former Bundesliga striker turned the game around with goals in the 49th and 82nd minutes and in stoppage time. Coach Xavi Hernández’s team, with national players Marc-André ter Stegen and Ilkay Gündogan in the starting line-up, moved back into second place in the table behind Real Madrid.

Shortly after the hosts took the lead through Fermin (22nd), a mistake by Ter Stegen helped Valencia to quickly equalize. Due to a failed pass attempt by the German keeper, Hugo Duro (27th) got the ball and was able to slide in effortlessly. Even before the break, the visitors took the lead thanks to a converted penalty kick from Pepelu (38th).

However, after the red card for keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili (45th + 4), Valencia had to play the second half with one man less. The host dominated the game with the majority. Lewandowski scored twice from Gündogan’s corners before scoring again from a free kick in the third minute of added time to complete the hat trick.
