Besiktas, coached by the Portuguese Fernando Santos, drew goalless today against Demirspor, opening the 22nd round of the Turkish Football League, after the defeat suffered in the previous round against Pendikspor, owned by Ivo Vieira.
Not even the fact that Demirspor played the entire second half with numerical inferiority, due to the expulsion of striker Yusuf Barasi in the 48th minute, was taken advantage of by Besiktas to resume their triumphs after the humiliating 4-0 defeat suffered in the previous round against a of the last in the league table, Pendikspor, coached by the Portuguese Ivo Vieira.
In Besiktas’ midfield, Portuguese midfielder Gedson Fernandes, ex-Benfica, played, while on Adana’s side Demirspor played Nani, European champion with Portugal in 2016, who entered the field at 86, replacing midfielder Emre Akbaba.
Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray lead the championship with 54 points (21 games), followed by Trabzonspor, with 37 (21), and Besiktas, in fourth place, with 36 (22).
Since arriving in Turkey at the end of January, Fernando Santos has recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat as coach of Besiktas in the championship, as well as a triumph (4-0) in the round of 32 of the Cup, against Eyupspor, from the second tier.
