President FIFA Gianni Infantino gave a message to Indonesian supporters and thanked PSSI led by Erick Thohir after watching the match U-23 Indonesian National Team vs Guinea in the 2024 Olympic playoffs.
Infantino together with PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir watched the Indonesia vs Guinea match live in the 2024 Olympic playoff match at INF Clairefontaine, France, Thursday (9/5) evening WIB.
In a match marked by two controversial penalty decisions, Guinea won 1-0 over Indonesia and won tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics. After the match, Infantino gave a message to Indonesian supporters.

“My message to everyone in the football-loving country of Indonesia is to be proud of your team and continue to support them with the same enthusiasm because they are moving in the right direction,” said Infantino, quoted from his personal Instagram page on Friday (10/5) early morning. WIB.
According to Infatino, Indonesia missed the opportunity to appear at the Olympics with a very narrow defeat.
“I watched them play in Clairefontaine, Paris today and it’s safe to say that the team missed out on historic qualification for the Olympics by a very narrow margin,” said Infantino.
Infantino also expressed his appreciation for PSSI’s performance under the leadership of Erick Thohir which succeeded in improving the performance of the Indonesian National Team.
“Thank you to everyone at PSSI led by Erick Thohir, for the extraordinary work done so far and FIFA will continue to support you on this path,” said Infantino.
Infantino’s praise received a response from Erick Thohir. Erick also expressed his gratitude to FIFA for continuing to support the progress of Indonesian football.
“Thank you for the extraordinary attention and support from President Gianni Infantino who was present at the Indonesian U-23 national team playoff match. Our progress so far cannot be separated from the President’s trust and encouragement towards Indonesian football,” said Erick Thohir.
