After the 0-0 first leg, the Viola were favorites at home to qualify for the last four. The Italians, in numerical superiority since the 67th minute, however had to wait for extra time to obtain their precious sesame.

Just two minutes after the start of extra time, Nico Gonzalez scored the liberating goal for Fiorentina (1-0, 92nd). Qualification was then sealed by Cristiano Biraghi in the 108th minute. 2-0, the Viola goes into the semi-finals and will face the winner of the duel between PAOK and Clube Bruges.
