A fire broke out on Wednesday morning around 3:30 a.m. in a commercial building in Vionnaz, which notably houses a Thai restaurant, on the Route du Simplon. Despite the rapid intervention of firefighters from CSI du Haut-Lac, CSI Chablais-Valais, CIMO and Troistorrents, the building was completely destroyed by the flames.
A person was found lifeless in the rubble. His formal identification is currently in progress, announced the cantonal police this Thursday morning in a press release.
During the intervention, the road between Vionnaz and Muraz was closed to all traffic and a diversion was put in place. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Cantonal Police, has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
