Between Friday night (22) and early Saturday afternoon (23), the Military Fire Department responded to a major accident in a supermarket in Pontal do Paraná, on the Coast. There was a collapse of a slab. Three deaths were confirmed (three women). Another 12 people were rescued alive, 10 with minor injuries and two with more serious injuries. Other people may have been treated in the region, but went to health units on their own.

The operation in the rubble of the 8th Fire Brigade was supported by a team from GOST (Operations and Tactical Relief Group), which is the special force for action in collapsed structures, in addition to the Civil Defense of Pontal do Paraná, Military Police, teams from the Regional Health and Samu, Civil Police and Scientific Police. Only the Fire Department provided 30 people to respond to the incident. In total, there were around 17 hours of operation.

The supermarket opened on Friday. The site did not yet have a fire protection project approved by the CBMPR. The Paraná Civil Police will open a police investigation to investigate the facts. A team was on site and the supermarket plan was requested for technical analysis and those involved will be interviewed in the coming days.

The Litoral Regional Hospital received four patients who were victims of the collapse. Two (a 64-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman) were discharged in the morning. A 41-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man still remain hospitalized, both in stable condition. The man’s family requested the patient’s transfer to a private hospital in Curitiba.
