Magna Steyr has been producing the Fisker Ocean electric SUV since November 2022. Now production in Graz is at least temporarily stopped, like Fisker announced on Monday: The production lines will be idle for six weeks starting March 18 “to adjust inventory levels and advance strategic and financing initiatives.”

Fisker in financial difficulties
Fisker has been struggling with financial difficulties for a long time. Just last week, the Californian company hit the headlines because it failed to pay interest on convertible bonds amounting to $8.4 million due on March 15th – according to its own statements, there was enough money available, but it had a 30 -day period for negotiations with investors.
Previously this had Wall Street Journal reported, citing inside information, Fisker is preparing for possible bankruptcy and has hired the consulting firm FTI Consulting and the law firm Davis Polk to assist with a possible filing. The company itself did not want to comment directly on this and confirmed in a short statement just to work regularly with external consultants.
Possible deal with Nissan
Fisker’s available cash balance has shrunk by more than two-thirds since the end of 2023. New convertible bonds are expected to bring in up to $150 million, and the company is also in talks about a possible transaction with a major car manufacturer – a Report by the Reuters news agency According to this, it is said to be Nissan.
