The judge has ordered the arrest of two former Haitian presidents, Jocelerme Privert and Joseph Michel Martelly, for alleged corruption, complicity, and influence of drug trafficking. This is in connection to the National Equipment Center (CNE) case, from which at least 78 pieces of heavy equipment were diverted. Other former officials, including prime ministers and parliamentarians, have also been ordered to appear in court. The order was issued after the deadline for these individuals to attend court passed on January 5th. The former interim president of Haiti, Jocelerme Privert, served from February 14, 2016, to February 7, 2017, while Joseph Michel Martelly was president from May 14, 2011, to February 7, 2016. Former prime ministers and a former deputy have also been cited to appear in court in the coming days.
