On Tuesday morning the cabin of a cable car on Mount Acherkogel, in the Hochoetz ski complex, in the Austrian state of Tyrol, crashed to the ground: it contained four people, who according to what the Austrian police reported are “seriously injured”, and the conditions of one of them would be criticism.
Their identities are still unknown. They were taken to safety by a helicopter, and were subsequently taken to hospitals in Zams and Innsbruck.
What happened is not yet clear, but the police have ruled out that the accident could have been caused by a technical defect: one hypothesis is that the cabin was hit by a tree. No other skiers were injured, and rescue efforts are currently underway at the scene of the accident.
