Margareta the Second signed the declaration of abdication and Frederik X became king of Denmark.
After the abdication, the former queen of Denmark said: “God, save the king”. In addition to her, the government ministers and cabinet secretary, King Frederik and his son, Crown Prince Christian, were present in the cabinet. Frederik X will be proclaimed king from the balcony of Kristiansborg Palace, it is written BBC.
Television showed footage of former Queen Margret leaving Kristiansborg Castle by car through a huge crowd in Copenhagen. The succession to the throne in Denmark is a formal ceremony that doesn’t really require anything other than a signature. So, when Margaret the Second put her signature on the document, it meant that a new regent could be proclaimed.
Margreta was on the Danish throne for 52 years, from January 14, 1972 until today.
