“Fumetti Futuri” the Festival of New Comics

FUMETTI FUTURI is a new comics festival that will be held for the first time in Riccione in March 2024. The festival aims to be an opportunity to talk to the public about future projects, newly published comics and show the public a “fresher” side of comics production. For this reason, the authors, artists, publishing houses and bookshops hosted are carefully selected and present by invitation only. The festival is organized by the association “Friends of the Museums of Riccione and Valconca” (AMUSE) under the artistic direction of Niccolò Tonelli, illustrator,
cartoonist and event organizer in the area.

The FUMETTI FUTURI festival will initially take place in 3 meetings and presentations during the month of March. The first of these will be the inauguration of a specially set up exhibition on 2 March which will be open to visitors during meeting and festival times. The exhibition will display the original drawings of Mario Cubbino (historic designer of Corriere dei Ragazzi and Diabolik), showing today’s readers a master of comics from the past.

The festival ends in an extended weekend (Friday 29 March – Monday 1 April) including Easter Sunday where presentations, meetings, workshops will be held, and there will be stands of publishing houses, artists and specialized bookshops.

The “Friends of the Museums of Riccione and Valconca” association offers guests of the festival accommodation in affiliated facilities in Riccione in the marina center area, next to the Palazzo del Turismo which hosts FUMETTI FUTURI. It also offers guests who organize workshops during the festival special spaces and reimbursement of expenses for their work and materials.

FUMETTI FUTURI will be held at the Palazzo del Turismo in Riccione a few steps from the sea in the area of
marina centre, will have no entry fee and will be open to the public on 2-9-16 March and 29-30-31 March and 1 April from 3pm to 6.30pm. During these hours the exhibition “Mario Cubbino – master of the past” will also be open to visitors.

On the evening of March 29th the festival will temporarily move to the Mexican Independent youth center in Misano Adriatico, for an evening dedicated to self-productions, local artists and the even more underground side of comics and art.

On the evening of Saturday 30 March, a “drawn concert” will be held at the Brillo: Lounge & Cocktail Bar, a venue near the Palazzo del Turismo where the guest artists of the festival will draw in real time during a jam session performed by the artists of Circa Diana Productions, creating a mix between visual and musical art.

Finally, on the afternoon of Monday 1 April, in the last hours of the festival, a finishing party will be held to celebrate the end of FUMETTI FUTURI and say goodbye to our guests.
