Matteo Garrone enters the race for the Oscars: I am CaptainItaly’s official candidate for the best international film of the 2024 edition, it was chosen for the final five of the night of the stars on March 10th. The nominations, chosen by Academy members from a record 93 countries, were announced today at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid.

Competing with Garrone are Perfect Days by Wim Wenders nominated from Japan, the Spanish film La Società della Neve by JA Bayona, the German film The Teachers’ Lounge by İlker Çatak and the British film The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer.
