The heptathlete Géraldine Ruckstuhl has decided to end her career as a track and field athlete.

The 26-year-old from Lucerne created a great moment for Swiss athletics in 2015 as U18 world champion, in 2017 she won silver at the U20 European Championships and in 2019 she became U23 European champion! Ruckstuhl was the Swiss record holder in the heptathlon for several years and is the current Swiss javelin record holder.

Her last appearance at a major event was at the World Championships in Doha in 2019, where she came ninth. Unfortunately, after years marked by health problems, the athlete was no longer able to return to her former performance level. “I feel that the fire is no longer as big as it should be,” she says. “That’s why I decided to end my athletics career.”
