Against the government’s disputed decision to reduce state subsidies to the sector
Hundreds of farmers gathered today – Monday 8 January – in Berlin and just as many are driving along German roads and motorways in tractors to protest against the government’s decision to reduce state subsidies for the sector. Yesterday the convoy had already reached the Brandenburg Gate for a vigil. Last Thursday the government announced the withdrawal of some of the planned cuts to subsidies, but the German Farmers’ Association considered the measure insufficient and organized the rally in the capital. The Ministry of Transport has expressed fear that the demonstration could cause serious traffic disruption.

Hello, I’m from Germany and have to correct the post. Several million people are demonstrating in Germany. Not only farmers are taking part, but also all the haulage companies, craftsmen and other trades.
