German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday he announced that Germany will send more Patriot missiles to Ukraine, which are among the most sophisticated air defense systems available to the West. Germany, together with the United States, was among the first Western countries to send Patriot systems to Ukraine in recent months: with the new shipment, Germany will have sent a total of three Patriot defense systems to Ukraine.
Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country would need more Patriot systems to resist Russian attacks, and specifically asked for 25 additional ones: Zelensky did not say how many Patriot systems Ukraine had so far, although it is estimated that including the two already sent from Germany it has at least five.
