The third call of the GO ASIA initiative, which… Global Incubator Network Austria (GIN Austria) started from now on. With GO SHANGHAI 2024, GIN Austria brings local DeepTech startups to the Chinese megacity. The GO ASIA initiative is organized by GIN Austria (the joint program of aws and FFG) in cooperation with Foreign Trade Austria. Austrian startups receive support in expanding into Asia. Like every year, there are several accelerator programs.
With GO SHANGHAI 2024 DeepTech startups have the opportunity to take their first steps in the Chinese metropolis. DeepTech includes robotics, AI, augmented/virtual reality, machine learning, biotechnology, blockchain, aerospace engineering and quantum computing, among others. Anyone interested can apply until May 5th here apply for the program. The program will take place from October 7, 2024 to October 14, 2024.

One-week tour of Shanghai and breakout session in Taipei
GO SHANGHAI 2024 is an acceleration program that provides both strategic and financial assistance to startups looking to expand to Shanghai. The program consists of two parts. The first part is digital onboarding. The selected startups receive three hours of free, individual innovation protection advice. At the kick-off dinner in Vienna, participants will also receive initial market insights and valuable last-minute preparation tips for a physical appearance in Shanghai, while they get to know the GO SHANGHAI startup group.
In the second part of the program, participants take part in a week-long ecosystem trip through Shanghai. Apart from that, they will also travel to Taiwan’s capital Taipei as part of a breakout session. On this trip you will gain valuable market insights into the local startup ecosystem and thus establish direct connections with potential investors, partners and customers.
The main event in Shanghai is the Tech G Show, a leading consumer technology event in Asia, showcasing innovative products and disruptive technologies such as 5G, AI, augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), automotive technology and more. The trip also offers individual 1:1 business meetings that the Shanghai Foreign Trade Center organizes for the startups.
GIN supports trips to Shanghai with up to 10,000 euros
For the ecosystem trip through Shanghai, GIN covers up to 80 percent of the travel costs, including flight and accommodation costs with up to 10,000 euros per startup (with the gender bonus even up to 90 percent of the eligible costs). The program is scheduled to take place in Shanghai and Taipei between October 7 and October 14, 2024.
The GO SHANGHAI 2024 acceleration program is specifically aimed at DeepTech startups. Participating startups should ideally be in the growth phase and have made their debut within the last seven years. The startups have a unique product or service, a working prototype and a proven business model with their first customers and sales. In addition, participants should be able to demonstrate at least one seed investment.

Startups have to prove themselves in online pitches
To apply, the founders need an account www.awsconnect.at. There they will find a form to fill out and must also upload their current pitch deck. You have until May 5th to do this. After this initial selection, the startups compete in an online pitch and can convince a top-class jury of their project.
All approved applicants are given four minutes during the online pitch to convince a top-class jury of national and international GIN partners of their idea and business model. This is followed by a short Q&A session with the jurors. After the online pitch, the jury will select the GO SHANGHAI 2024 finalists.
