Starina Radovan, whom everyone in Homolj knows as Cika Brka, is the oldest gold panner and one of the best connoisseurs of this craft. He lives in Blagojev Kamen, an abandoned settlement along the Pek River between Majdanpek and Kučevo, which once housed the famous “Sveta Barbara” gold mine.

Every day he tries to find a few golden particles with the help of his wooden washing machine. He very often has company in this search. With him is the youngest washerman who rejoices at every found gold particle. “I come here as a hobby, this is not something that people get carried away with, but sometimes there is luck. Once we found five grams of gold and it feels nicej”, said the youngest washer for Informer TV.

By the way, the wooden laundry room of the oldest gold washer in Homolj, which is used to discover gold, was almost never empty. Twice extracted from Pek in the layer of iron and magnetite always shines. This guarantees that this river has a good percentage of this precious metal.

From the stories that Uncle Brka heard from his elders, Grabova reka, the area around the villages of Voluja and Brodica certainly hide the greatest wealth so it was inhabited by Celts, Romans, Germans and French.
