Krupskaia Alís: A Voice of Compassion Remembered
Krupskaia Alís, a respected journalist and correspondent for CNN, passed away on February 14th in Ciudad de Mexico. Her distinctive voice and remarkable storytelling skills have left a lasting impression on those who had the opportunity to hear her narrate countless news stories.
Krupskaia, originally from Colombia, began her career as a journalist after graduating from the Central American University in Nicaragua. Her work as a correspondent in Central America for NBC and Univision earned her acclaim, including an Emmy award and the annual award from the Union of Journalists of Nicaragua for her coverage of the Hurricane Mitch.
She joined CNN as a correspondent in Mexico City in 2006 and made significant contributions to news coverage in the region. Her in-depth reporting included stories on the coup d’état in Honduras, the pursuit of notorious drug trafficker Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, and the social and security problems related to drug trafficking and criminal violence in Mexico.
Krupskaia’s commitment to deliver impactful stories was evident in her reporting on the disappearance and murder of 11 young people from Bar Heaven in Mexico City and the tragic case of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa normal school in Guerrero.
