Gravis is closing all branches in Germany

All 38 Gravis branches in Germany are to be closed by the end of 2024 at the latest. Bremen is also affected by this; two Apple retailer stores are currently located in the Hanseatic city. According to Spiegel, it is not yet clear how exactly the 38 branches will be processed. “The only thing that is clear is that the markets will no longer exist on December 31st. We informed the employees about this on Wednesday,” the news magazine quoted Freenet boss Christoph Vilanek, whose telecommunications group Gravis bought in 2013.

“We hoped for a long time and negotiated with our Austrian partner McShark until late Tuesday evening,” Vilanek continued to tell Spiegel. “But even a merger wouldn’t have saved the business. We have to recognize that it’s no longer worth it.”

Gravis recently tried to reposition itself on the market with a redesign and increased advertising on the market. The chain also caused a stir with the step, that cash can no longer be paid in their branches. According to Vilanek, nothing will change for customers at the moment. However, plans are already being made for how long repair orders can still be accepted. The situation varies from place to place, rental contracts last for different lengths, and some shops could receive interest earlier than others.
