Salgado Filho Airport, in the capital Porto Alegre, had flights suspended due to the high volume of rain that has hit the state since the beginning of the week.

Lake Guaíba reached 4.59 meters and flooded a large part of the historic center.

In a statement, the concessionaire that manages the airport declared that “to ensure the safety of employees and passengers, landing and takeoff operations are suspended at Porto Alegre Airport for an indefinite period.”

Also in a statement, Fraport Brasil asked passengers to contact the airline for more information about their flights.

Since last Thursday night (2), the Salgado Filho region had already been placed on alert by Civil Defense.

Fraport Brasil – Porto Alegre informs that, due to the high volume of rain that has hit Rio Grande do Sul in recent days, and to ensure the safety of employees and passengers, landing and takeoff operations are suspended at Porto Alegre Airport, for undetermined time. Passengers are asked to contact their airline for more information about their flights.
