Salgado Filho Airport, in the capital Porto Alegre, had flights suspended due to the high volume of rain that has hit the state since the beginning of the week.
Lake Guaíba reached 4.59 meters and flooded a large part of the historic center.
In a statement, the concessionaire that manages the airport declared that “to ensure the safety of employees and passengers, landing and takeoff operations are suspended at Porto Alegre Airport for an indefinite period.”
Also in a statement, Fraport Brasil asked passengers to contact the airline for more information about their flights.
Since last Thursday night (2), the Salgado Filho region had already been placed on alert by Civil Defense.
