Ukraine: Has evidence that Russia is using Starlink technology
Ukraine says it has evidence Russian forces are using Elon Musk’s Starlink technology on the battlefield.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has released an audio clip it says proves Russian soldiers used Starlink systems to communicate.
Russian media reports that Starlink’s communication systems are now sold in several Russian online stores, which receive the goods via an intermediary in Dubai. That’s what Newsweek writes. The systems are being sold to Russian volunteer military units for use in annexed regions of Ukraine, according to local newspapers Newsweek.
The magazine has contacted SpaceX for comment. There is no evidence to show that Elon Musk or SpaceX is aware of, or responsible for, what is happening.
Musk’s SpaceX deployed Starlink satellites to ensure Kyiv had secure internet services shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
To date, Starlink has funded 4,000 satellites that ensure communication between Ukrainian troops on the battlefield. The Starlink network does not work in Russia, but can now be used in the annexed areas of Ukraine and Crimea, writes Newsweek.
