Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that he had never compared him to vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka with the truck driver who was involved in an accident at the Halim Utama Toll Gate (GT). Hasto said the statement only provided an example in a conversation.
“I’m not likening it like that, I gave an example when delivering the conversation, coincidentally there was a very serious problem when near the Halim Toll Gate there was a truck driver who was only 17 years old and didn’t have a driver’s license and then experienced two crises,” Hasto told reporters, Monday. (1/4/2024).
Hasto said the young driver faced two crises when he had an accident. First, when he chose to run away after hitting another vehicle which actually triggered a series of accidents.

“The first crisis was when he hit another vehicle, then the second, because he was not old enough to deal with this problem, he immediately took a shortcut and tried to run away. So he gaspoled and instead created a series of accidents, which means that even truck drivers need maturity,” ” he explained.
The second problem is the issue of ownership of a driving license (SIM). Reflecting on this incident, Hasto believes that maturity is needed in overcoming conflict.
“The conditions for obtaining a driver’s license are also through exams, not that a driver’s license is given even if you are not old enough, but because of access to power a driver’s license is given. It turns out that overcoming conflicts and problems in the field requires maturity, especially to lead the nation and state,” he said.
Therefore, Hasto views the age of 40 as a requirement for presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the presidential election contestation as a measure of the maturity of a potential leader of the country. He reminded us not to let national problems have a bad impact like the Halim Toll Gate case.
“So being 40 years old as a presidential and vice-presidential candidate is an age that shows a level of maturity. If cases on the highway alone create victims like this, how much more so if it’s a problem at the national level? Maybe at a cabinet meeting, for example, we think this process can’t be stopped because of abuse of power, it’s more fun to ride a bicycle,” he said.

Previously, Hasto compared Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who was running for vice president, to a truck driver who had an accident at the Halim Toll Gate. Hasto believes that both of them are not old enough to deal with the existing problems.
“Some time ago there was an accident with a 17 year old child, the truck driver apparently didn’t have a driver’s license, maturity in dealing with problems on the highway had not yet occurred, just because he hit a car he ran away because he had not yet reached maturity. Then he crashed and hit the car others,” said Hasto in the ‘Sing Waras Sing Menang’ discussion which was broadcast online, Saturday (30/3).
Hasto believes that Gibran is not old enough to handle this complex problem. According to him, anything that is not ideal will only create damage.
“Then in the midst of this a display emerged of how a president’s child whose age limit was not yet sufficient, the mayor was also only two years old, then received a preference,” he said.
