He never smoked and rarely consumed alcohol: the secrets of the oldest man in the world

John Alfred Tinniswood, an Englishman aged 111 years and 226 days, has been confirmed as the world‘s oldest man by the Guinness Book of World Records. Tinniswood shared his secrets to a long life, attributing it to eating fish and chips every Friday, living in moderation, and having good luck.

The Guinness World Records presented Tinniswood with a certificate on April 4, recognizing him as the oldest man in the world. Senior Gerontology Consultant for Guinness World Records, Robert Young, and the Gerontology Research Group meticulously examined and confirmed Tinniswood’s achievement.

Tinniswood, who was born in Liverpool on August 26, 1912, has lived through two world wars and served in the British Army Pay Corps during the Second World War. He married his wife, Blodwen, in 1942 and they had a daughter named Susan in 1943. After enjoying 44 years of marriage, Blodwen passed away in 1986.

In addition to Tinniswood, the oldest person alive in the world is María Branyas Morera from Spain, who recently celebrated her 117th birthday. Some other notable oldest men recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records include Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, Christian Mortensen, and Masazo Nonaka.
