The first training drives for the Australian Grand Prix in Formula 1 were marked by a few spins and also a serious accident by Williams driver Alexander Albon. The Thai driver flew off in turn six in the first session and crashed heavily into the barrier.
His Williams was badly damaged, but fortunately Albon remained largely uninjured. However, the 27-year-old’s start this weekend is not yet certain. Williams did not bring a replacement chassis to the track. If the car cannot be repaired, the racing team would have to decide who will tackle the race weekend with the remaining car: Albon or teammate Logan Sargeant. That has now been clarified: Albon will drive in Sargeant’s car.
