Holidays, Ascension Day | Do you notice that there are many holidays this year? Here is the reason

Ascension Day is the second day off in May, and next week you can take a long weekend off on both Friday and Monday.

As NTB was able to report during Space Christmas last year, it so happens that all red days that can end up on a weekday will end up on a weekday in 2024.

The year started with:

  • 1 January fell on a Monday, extending the Christmas holiday.

In May were:

  • Labor Day, May 1, on a Wednesday
  • Ascension Day on Thursday 9 May
  • National Day, Friday 17 May
  • Pentecost following weekend with red day on Monday 20 May

But it’s just to enjoy the days off. From June there are no red days in the calendar until Christmas.

Christmas Eve is this year on a Tuesday, and Christmas Day and Boxing Day will therefore be Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be a cramped day.

Holidays 2024:

Monday 1 January: 1st New Year’s Day
Sunday 24 March: Palm Sunday
Thursday 28 March: Maundy Thursday
Friday 29 March: Good Friday
Sunday 31 March: 1st Easter Sunday
Monday 1 April: 2nd Easter Sunday
Wednesday 1 May: Public holiday
Thursday 9 May: Ascension Day
Friday 17 May: Constitution Day
Sunday 19 May: 1st Pentecost
Monday 20 May: 2nd Pentecost
Wednesday 25 December: Christmas Day
Thursday 26 December: Boxing Day
