Homecomers who do not yet have tickets but have already traveled to Merak Harbor will be diverted to Ciwandan Harbor. The agreement was taken to reduce congestion at Merak Port.

This decision was taken after the National Police, ASDP, Banten Provincial Government and the port authority agreed. Homecomers who have traveled back and forth to Merak and do not yet have tickets will still be served to cross.

“Furthermore, there were several problems that we discovered but we have resolved them, so today, travelers who don’t have tickets will still be served, so there are travelers who usually go to the show, but they still went without buying tickets first. When they got here, it turned out the tickets were sold out. “It’s not for sale. So this is our policy with the regional government, including the ASDP agency and port management, we all agree,” said Banten Police Chief Inspector General Abdul Karim to journalists, Sunday (7/4/2024).

Homecomers in this category will have their services transferred to Ciwandan Port. Abdul Karim said that private car travelers would be filtered first in the buffer zone area on the Tangerang-Merak toll road. If you don’t have a ticket, the officer will provide ticket purchases on the spot and direct you to Ciwandan Harbor.

“So for travelers who are already traveling, are already in the buffer zone and don’t have a ticket, we provide ticket sales services, but their departure is not via Merak but we will load them later via Ciwandan Port,” he said.

It is known that crossing tickets at Merak Harbor were sold out as of April 8. There are some travelers who insist on traveling home without having a ticket first. For this reason, he said, the police and the port authority agreed to continue serving these travelers.

“Officially, the information is that tickets are sold out, they are sold out, however, we from the government and related agencies, ASDP services and so on have agreed that we can provide a solution. Only travelers who are already in the buffer zone who have already made the trip will provide ticket purchasing services. directly,” he said.

He appealed to travelers who have not bought crossing tickets to Sumatra to abandon their intention to leave before buying tickets. Travelers are advised to buy tickets first at home and then leave for the port.

“I also appeal to travelers who are still at home who have not traveled to Merak at this time and do not have a ticket, it is better not to go to Merak Harbor first, buy a ticket first then go to the port, don’t go to the show, meaning from home, just buy a Merak ticket. “There are lots of rest areas,” he said.
