The Swedish city of Malmö is hosting the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. After the semi-finals and the exclusion of the Netherlands, 25 countries are still fighting for the ESC title in 2024. We introduce the participating acts and their songs – here: Silia Kapsis from Cyprus.

Das ist Silia Kapsis
Cyprus is once again relying on musical imports from down under at this year’s ESC. With Silia Kapsis, after Andrew Lambrou last year, the small country in the Mediterranean is once again sending an Australian act to the song contest – in Silia’s case with close family and cultural roots in the region. Her father is a well-known Cypriot singer, her Greek mother made a name for herself as a dancer at a young age. Despite being only 17 years old, Silia already has an impressive career in the music, dance and film business. She released her first song, “Who Am I?”, at the age of twelve, and as a dancer she has already worked with Taboo from the Black-Eyed Peas, among others.

That’s the song
“Liar” is the name of the song with which Silia performs at the ESC in Malmö. Club-friendly beats, a sing-along chorus and a choreo in a gold costume are intended to captivate the European audience. It’s definitely enough to make you tap along – and with Dimitris Kontopoulos they’ve definitely relied on the power of an ESC-experienced songwriter. The Greek has already been involved in four songs that ended up in the top ten at the Eurovision Song Contest.
