According to Canadian television footage, Meng, 49, daughter of the founder of the Chinese telecommunications giant, boarded a plane bound for Shenzhen shortly after being released.

Almost simultaneously, two Canadians, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, who have been detained in China since late 2018, were released and flew to Canada. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: “About 12 minutes ago, the plane carrying Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor left Chinese airspace and is heading towards Canada”.
