– Now I have got the gold, I have one more medal, and now I can quite honestly say that I would have been happy if there was a whole podium with the remaining three who did not get a medal, Johannes Thingnes Bø told NRK.
In Nove Mesto, rowing has continued its medal haul from previous championships, and now stands with 18 WC gold, 12 silver and four bronze medals throughout its career.
The 30-year-old claims that he is starting to get rich during this year’s WC. NRK’s commentator Torgeir Bjørn doesn’t believe that statement.
– Johannes, you are bluffing!

One thing that applies: Gold
– He is on the winning track with gold at the start of the hunt. Once he gets into that shape, gold is the goal in every race for him, continued Bjørn.
He believes that Thingnes Bø is trying to build a sense of team in the Norwegian national team, and believes that the biathlon star sincerely wants everyone to get a taste of a medal.
– But not at the expense of own gold. For him, there is one thing that matters, and that is gold, Bjørn believes.

During this year’s WC, the Norwegian men have been completely dominant, taking all the individual medals.
Sturla Holm Lægreid (gold, silver) and Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (two bronze) have also won medals in Nove Mesto. Thus, it is Tarjei Bø, Johannes Dale and Endre Strømsheim from the Norwegian team who lack a podium place in the championship this year.
Biathlon expert Ola Lunde also praises Thingnes Bø for treating others to success. There is no doubt that he would be happy to take brother Tarjei or the other two without medals on the podium, says Lunde.
But at the top he wants to stand on his own.
– No, I’m not buying it. He is a winner and wants it all the time. He is not going to go a little slower or shoot a little worse so that others will win, says NRK’s expert.

Thingnes Bø is the reigning champion, and even if Sjåstad Christiansen thinks he deserves the other medals, there is one thing that is even more important.
– But he probably treats himself mostly to one more gold. I don’t think he will wish the other three a medal at the expense of him coming fourth.
