In Paris the “bistro waiters” competition: racing with croissants and coffee

(LaPresse) In the year of the Olympics, the traditional bistro waiter competition returns to Paris. A 2km run through the streets of the French capital holding a tray of croissants, coffee and a glass of water. Competitors of both sexes and all ages competed. The race had been missing for 13 years. “The bistro is a way of life in Paris. It is a place where we live, where we come to work, study, meet people, love or discuss,” said Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The response from the public was positive, many people came to see the ‘garcons de café’ give their best and the participants were enthusiastic about the resumption of the race.
