Two people in the UK on Monday have been indicted on charges of having carried out espionage activities for China: Christopher Berry, aged 32, and Christopher Cash, aged 29, will appear on Friday at the first hearing of the trial against them at the Westmister court. They are accused of having provided “articles, notes, documents and information” covered by the law on official secrets to a foreign state, China: this includes state secrets, sensitive information and official data.
On March 13, British police announced that they had arrested two men, without revealing their names, following lengthy investigations: Berry and Cash were released after paying bail. The contested activities took place between December 2021 and February 2023: in the past Cash he had worked as assistant in parliament to Alicia Kearns, of the Conservative Party.
