Indonesia, 11 children drowned in the river they were cleaning up during a school trip

by admin

At least 11 students died after falling into a river in the Indonesian province of West Java while taking part in a field trip. This was reported by sources of the rescue services. The group consisted of 21 students, whose age has not yet been disclosed and who were not wearing life jackets when the accident occurred, the causes of which are still unclear. The strong current swept away the victims, who drowned, and made rescue attempts difficult. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has indicated that the other 10 students have been rescued. The boys were part of a larger group, about 150 students from an Islamic school in the city of Ciamis, who yesterday took part in a campaign to clean up the river bed.
