The rocket took off at 05:58 Italian time from Florida for its 16th flight into orbit
At 05:58 Italian time on Sunday 10 July, the launch of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket – Elon Musk’s US aerospace company – set the record of 16 flights and as many landings. This morning’s launch, which took place at Cape Canaveral in Florida, is the 46th of 2023. There are 21 other V2 Mini satellites already in orbit of the Starlink constellation. Since 2019, 4,766 Starlinks have been flown into orbit. SpaceX launches these satellites at a very high rate, 1,102 in 2023 alone, and it is possible that some Starlinks will malfunction shortly after reaching orbit. For this reason, the Falcon 9 releases them at an altitude of about 320 km, so that the faulty ones can deorbit quickly, still being at a relatively low altitude.
