IS claims they are behind it

The terrorist group IS claims to be behind the attack, reports the news agencies Reuters and AFP.

– IS fighters attacked a large gathering on the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow, the group writes on Telegram.

The claim has not been confirmed from other sources. Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claim from IS.

The New York Times writes that several official American sources also believe that IS is behind the terrorist attack.

The Reuters news agency quotes an anonymous official US source as saying that the US has intelligence showing that IS is behind the attack.

On Friday evening, several perpetrators attacked inside the Crocus City Hall concert hall just outside Moscow.

Putin breaks his silence

On Saturday afternoon, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the people after the attack.

Putin used his speech to thank the rescue team, among other things. Furthermore, he said that all the suspects behind the attack have been arrested.

– All those responsible for this attack will be punished, Putin said during the speech.

It took a long time before Putin appeared in public and spoke to the people. Before that, only spokespeople commented on the attack.

The Russian president also said that he is appointing March 24 as a national day of mourning.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has asked “the whole world to condemn this terrorist attack”.

The fire is largely extinguished
