Is the mother-in-law to blame for Tim’s victory against Anton Schmaus?

Anton Schmaus in Nairobi (Kenya):
Tim Mälzer sends Anton Schmaus on a very special trip – to Nairobi in Kenya. He wants Anton to get to know a completely foreign world and to deal with the difficult living conditions of the people there. As a chef for the German national football team, Anton is used to luxury and comfort, but now he is confronted with a completely different reality. Some time ago, Tim Mälzer worked with a children’s aid organization in Uganda and was deeply impressed by the experiences he gained there. Tim sends Anton to one of the largest slums in the world, where he is invited by the warm Millicent. In Millicent’s simple hut, Anton is allowed to recreate a traditional dish using her humble cooking utensils. He immerses himself in a world that was previously completely unknown to him. Anton sees the poverty and the difficult living conditions, but at the same time he also recognizes the kindness and joy of life of the people there. This task touches Anton deeply. He is grateful that he has the opportunity to have these experiences and to look at the world with completely different eyes. Anton not only takes home 5.8 points for his performance, but above all, immense gratitude and humility.

Tim Mälzer in Östersund (Sweden):

Anton Schmaus sends his good friend and fellow chef Tim Mälzer to Östersund, Sweden. A very special challenge awaits Tim there: he must first demonstrate his technical skills in order to receive a reward. This reward is a cookbook by a well-known Swedish chef named Elaine Asp, who specializes in traditional dishes from the Sami, the indigenous people of Scandinavia.

The special thing about this cookbook is that it is written in Swedish, which presents a bit of a challenge for Tim. Without any knowledge of the language, he has to choose the dishes for the box and the challenge using the pictures. Despite the language barrier, Tim finds the task exciting and begins selecting the dishes.

He can’t really complain about the task. But probably about part of the jury. Anton Schmaus’ mother-in-law is there because she comes from this part of Sweden. But Tim gets a good 6.3 points here and narrowly wins against Anton Schmaus with 11.5 to 11.4 points. Did his mother-in-law vote too well? At least – Anton Schmaus can still joke. Both chefs agree: These tasks demanded everything from them, but they also gained valuable new experiences.
