Israel Strikes Hezbollah Leader In Lebanon, Kills Dozens of Soldiers in Syria

Israel Defense Forces airstrike targeted and took down Ali Abdel Hassan Naim, a senior member of Hezbollah’s rocket and missile unit in Lebanon. The IDF confirmed Naim’s role in planning and launching heavy rockets towards Israel’s territory.

The attack on Naim occurred in the city of Bazouriye near Tire in Lebanon. Hezbollah acknowledged his death but did not specify his rank within the organization. The news came shortly after reports of a deadly airstrike by Israel against Syrian government forces and Hezbollah fighters in Aleppo, Syria.

At least 42 soldiers, including Syrian troops and Hezbollah fighters, lost their lives in the bombings that targeted a joint base of the Syrian Army and Hezbollah. The Israeli operation struck a missile warehouse near Aleppo’s international airport and other facilities used by the allied forces in Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that this recent attack by Israel resulted in the highest number of casualties on Syrian soil in the last three years. The Israeli military launched the airstrikes from Athriya, southeast of Aleppo, according to a military source cited by the official Syrian news agency SANA.

This attack follows a previous Israeli strike on the outskirts of Damascus, which left two civilians injured, as reported by the Syrian Ministry of Defense. Israel’s actions in Syria have intensified since the Gaza conflict began in October, with a focus on targeting Hezbollah weapon storage facilities along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Israel has reportedly conducted 28 operations in Syrian territory this year, with most of them carried out through air attacks. The country has been targeting pro-Iran militias in Syria, allies of the Syrian regime, as part of its ongoing military strategy in the region.
