Italian tourist killed by a shark in Colombia

An Italian tourist died in Colombia of injuries sustained following a shark attack. The incident took place in the Colombian archipelago of San Andrés, in the Caribbean Sea. The local authorities and media report it. Antonio Straccialini, 56, was swimming near a cliff not very frequented by swimmers when he was suddenly bitten by the animal.

The man had dived from a little-used reef due to the presence of sharks. Some people, attracted by the screams, ran and managed to retrieve it after he had struggled to reach the rocks.

Admitted to hospital, the 56-year-old died of bleeding from a deep wound in his leg. Straccialini was known as a ‘globetrotter’. To confirm his death is the mayor of Roseto Mario Nugnes. «We only understood that it is Antonio Straccialini, 56 years old – explains Nugnes to ANSA – his sister recognized the identity of the same that you initially gave as news, even if the surname was missing. I did not know him personally and they tell me that he left many years ago: he has a sister who lives here and who was contacted by our registry office; I honestly don’t even know what their relationships were. “
