It’s spring: What are your favorite activities?

The Venoge Festival, which will be held from August 14 to 17, has revealed a program that is already thrilling music lovers. Music legends such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Imagination, Jain, Gilbert Montagné, MC Solaar, Gossip and many others are expected for four evenings that promise to be memorable. Greg Fischer, the festival’s boss, was my guest.

How to bring all these beautiful people to the heart of the canton of Vaud? “It’s always the big question every year” confides Greg Fischer, visibly satisfied with the first returns. “It’s just work. We have good contacts with a lot of agents, and over the years, we’ve been able to convince them to bring their artists to our little corner of Pentaz.”

The evening of Thursday, August 15, in particular, promises a lively revival with a program that includes what the 90s did best and the presence of cult groups such as Imagination or Earth, Wind & Fire Experience by Al McKay “He’s one of the original guitarists of the band Earth, Wind & Fire who tours with musicians to bring us back to the great ’80s,” Fischer explains.

As for Saturday evening, it will be marked by the presence of Jain, now well anchored in the French-speaking musical landscape. “I discovered her at Chat Noir in Geneva when she was just starting out and this is the first time she was able to come on stage at Venoge” remembers Greg Fischer. The return of Gossip, whose new album scheduled for March is making rock aficionados quiver with impatience. “Having Gossip as a Suisse Romande exclusive, it’s truly an indie-rock band, and it’s a nice example of what rock can do.”

But the Venoge Festival also pays particular attention to the Swiss scene, with local artists like Aliose, who will open the main stage on Saturday. “They make great music and are just adorable,” enthuses Greg Fischer.

The festival also does not forget the icons of French hip-hop with the announced presence of MC Solaar. “It’s really a pleasure. He means so much, musically speaking, to so many people,” confesses Fischer, admitting to being a fan of the rapper from the start.

However, the programmer insists that musical choices are not dictated by personal taste. “We clearly don’t make a program based on the groups we like,” he explains. “We basically have programming for the public. That’s the most important thing.”

The organizers still promise a few surprises, but one thing is certain, the Venoge Festival 2024 promises to be an unmissable event for all music lovers. “It will be the mega dancefloor revival of the summer,” concludes Greg Fischer, promising evenings where “everyone has fun”.
