For his new film “Giant,” ex-James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan takes on the role of boxing trainer Brendan Ingle. The 70-year-old surprises with his appearance on set.
The tracksuit, the sparse hair and the round glasses don’t fit the image that many have internalized from Brosnan’s time as James Bond. But this was already 30 years ago.
The film “Giant” is being shot in England and is dedicated to the former English professional boxer “Prince” Naseem Hamed. This is played by actor Amir El-Masry (33, known from “Star Wars”). The biopic is produced by “Rocky” legend Sylvester Stallone (77).
Pierce Brosnan was not happy as James Bond
“Giant” covers the time when Brendan Ingle discovered his boxing talent as a seven-year-old and made him the featherweight world champion. A theatrical release has not yet been communicated.
Brosnan became world famous for his role as 007. He was allowed to play the agent in a total of four films: “Golden Eye” (1994), “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997), “The World Is Not Enough” (1999) and “Die Another Day” (2002). He was followed by Daniel Craig. He once spoke critically to the Telegraph about his time as 007. “I have no desire to see myself as James Bond. Because it was just never good enough. That’s a terrible feeling.”
