Jungle star has loan debts running into millions

Most of the time it seems as if reality TV star Micaela Schäfer is living a life of luxury. But that’s not the case – the ex-jungle camper has to look at the money.

Micaela Schäfer is one of the most sought-after trash personalities on German television. The now 40-year-old, who started her career in the casting show “Germany’s Next Top Model”, achieved her breakthrough with her participation in the jungle camp in 2012. Since then, she has been a welcome guest at events and, according to RTL, earns up to 3,000 euros per appearance. But she can’t spend the money as she pleases. Because Micaela Schäfer has loan debts amounting to 1.5 million euros.

Through “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” Micaela Schäfer made a career move. “I am incredibly grateful to the jungle. Jungle was simply an absolute career and money booster for me,” she tells RTL. Before that, she barely earned any money and had to stay afloat as a waitress or cloakroom worker in the club.

“I can’t just afford vacations now”

But she doesn’t spend much more today than she did back then. “Things aren’t going great for me at all,” she explains. “I’m just clever and have set my priorities. I can’t just afford vacations now. I’ll say it quite frankly, it’s not possible, I don’t have the money. Even a girls’ night out is difficult for me. Then money is looked at. “

The reason for this is almost 1.5 million euros in loan debt. She pays 7,000 to 8,000 euros per month. Schäfer has four condominiums and is currently building a single-family home. She says her mother will move in there. Micaela Schäfer would like to support them financially when she retires. And the model herself also wants to be protected in old age. To do this, she has to limit herself in everyday life. “I have to earn a lot of money for many, many years so that my construct doesn’t collapse.”
