Former President Leonel Fernández, who is now the presidential candidate of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, reassured the public that the issues that arose during the municipal elections in February will not be repeated during the upcoming presidential and congressional elections on May 19.

Speaking at a meeting with delegates from constituency no. 2 of the National District, Fernández emphasized the importance of this election and the hope that the people of the Dominican Republic have placed in the People’s Force party.

Reflecting on the unexpected results of the February elections, Fernández admitted that there was overconfidence within the party, as they did not properly convert popular support into electoral victories. He highlighted the lack of coordination among different leadership teams as a contributing factor to their underperformance in the past elections.

Encouraging the delegates to work hard on election day, Fernández stressed the significance of the day in shaping the future of the Dominican Republic. He underscored the importance of converting popular support into tangible electoral success.

The Fuerza del Pueblo party has been actively meeting with electoral officials and party leaders to ensure a strong voter turnout and support for their candidates. The meeting was attended by various party leaders and electoral managers, including current deputy Tobías Crespo and other candidates for deputies in the upcoming elections.

As the presidential and congressional elections draw near, Fernández and the Fuerza del Pueblo party are ramping up their efforts to secure victory in May.
