Li Jiachao Announces Second Policy Report Release Date and Launch of Public Consultation

Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao announced today, before attending the Executive Council meeting, that he will be releasing his second policy address in October this year. Furthermore, the Chief Executive disclosed that the public consultation on the policy report will commence within the month.

Mr. Li Jiachao expressed his intentions during a media interaction session, emphasizing the importance of seeking input from various stakeholders in the policy-making process. He stated that consultation meetings would be held to gather the opinions and suggestions of members of the Legislative Council, representatives from different sectors, and the general public. Additionally, Mr. Li Jiachao mentioned his plans to personally visit communities in Hong Kong to further engage with citizens and understand their perspectives.

In addition to his policy address preparations, the Chief Executive also shared that he intends to lead a high-level delegation to visit Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia later this month. This visit aims to strengthen Hong Kong’s economic ties and explore new business opportunities with ASEAN countries. Accompanied by several bureau chiefs and around 30 leaders from the Hong Kong business community, Mr. Li Jiachao plans to showcase Hong Kong’s advantages and present the city as an ideal destination for economic cooperation.

Taking a step towards enhancing transparency and accountability, Mr. Li Jiachao will participate in the second “Chief Executive Interactive Q&A Session” in the Legislative Council on July 13. Encouraged by the success of the first session, the Chief Executive expressed his commitment to continuing and improving this model of consultation, exchange, and interaction.

It is worth noting that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will adjourn the Executive Council meeting as usual, with the resumption time to be announced later. However, during the adjournment period, internal discussions within thematic groups, as well as deliberations with relevant departments, will continue.

The upcoming policy address holds significant importance as it reflects the administration’s vision and direction for future developments in Hong Kong. The public consultation process will ensure an inclusive and participatory approach, allowing diverse voices to contribute to the decision-making process.
